Camp-Weeping Willow Acres Farm (Ages 4-9)

Camp FUN-damentals is a supportive, animal-assisted therapeutic camp for kids of ALL abilities held outdoors on the grounds of Weeping Willow Acres farm in Minnetrista (05 Fielding Trail Minnetrista, MN 55359).

Supported by skilled occupational therapist Alycia from FUNdamentals in Nature, campers will participate in nature-based social games, art, movement, snack preparation and sensory play to promote development of social relationships, life skills, self regulation and fine and gross motor skills. (Your child won’t know they are working on these skills, they will just think they are having FUN with new animal and human friends outside in nature!)

This camp is designed to be inclusive for kids that need a boost in their motor, social, and self regulation skills, but is a great camp for all kids wanting to explore nature and animals with new friends in a small group environment.

Campers will learn about grooming and care of llamas, camels, peacocks, chickens, barn cats and house dogs with the expertise from Natalie Pierce from Weeping Willow Acres farm. Campers will have the opportunity to pet the animals and help with feeding, grooming, farm chores, and walking the llamas  if desired.

Other camp details: Camp FUNdamentals will be held rain or shine! Campers should come dressed for the weather with layers/extra clothes as needed to participate in all of the multisensory activities nature has to offer. The camp will be 90% outdoors with use of a covered barn space for some activities. Campers will make a snack together during camp or can bring their own personal snack if desired.

Camp is limited to 10 kids, creating a therapeutic small group experience. The adult/child ratio is 1:3, assisted by undergraduate/graduate students in child development fields. PCA’s/parents are able to attend if 1:1 support is needed to safely participate in a group setting.
